Obituary

Larry Lavern Coldwater, age 73 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at University of Chicago Medical Center. Survived by his wife of 26 years Julia Baum-Coldwater, his children Aaron (Stephanie) Coldwater and Anna Coldwater, grandchildren Caroline Coldwater, Tristan Joseph Coldwater, Anthony Jimenez and Arlo Jimenez. Preceded in death by his parents, Lavern Aaron Coldwater (1999) and H. Kathleen Coldwater (2017), and his sister Linda Coldwater Boseo (1982). Larry graduated from Joliet East High School in 1969 and Joliet Jr. College in 1971. He attended University of Illinois- Champaign/Urbana following his time at JJC. Larry was a 6th generation farmer and owner of Coldwater Seed Farm of Elwood, IL, which served the farming community for a total of 3 generations. He was an avid reader and an "armchair scholar" of the Civil War and World War 2. He was also an avid collector of antiques. His deepest passions were farming, family, and friends. Private family services were held however, a memorial service will take place in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's name to Elwood Community Church, 101 S.
