Lawrence "Larry" D. Lee, age 86, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully Friday, October 17, 2014, at his home with family at his side. He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Mathis of Joliet and Mary (Dan) Horvat of Plainfield, his five sons, Charles of Manhattan, David (Joann) of Shorewood, Steven (Barb) of Joliet, Leonard (Judy) of Crest Hill and Richard (Karen) of Joliet, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and two nieces. Preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Irene Lee, his wife of 59 years, Frances (nee Jones-2007), one son, Kenneth, and one grandson, Jeffrey. Born and raised in Decatur. Larry served his country as a Submariner with the US Navy and he worked as a Boiler Operator for 39 years with Com Ed. He was also a Scout for Troop 25 and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 300 for many years. Larry was a caring compassionate man who shared his talents in wood working with many people. Funeral service for Lawrence will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Forsythe Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim McGuire of Joliet Area Community Hospice officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL. Memorials in Larry's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be most appreciated.
