Leila Haleem, age 37, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, with loving family at her side. She is survived by her fiancé, Andy Peterson, son, Caleb, mother, Linda Haleem, siblings, Adam (Rita) Haleem, JoAnna (Adam) Jennrich and Ali (Danae) Haleem, in-laws, Krista (TJ) Hansen, Alex Peterson, Mark (Lisa) Langusch, Beth and Jerome Peterson, and best friend, Jackie Bermingham. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Leila is preceded in death by her father, Joseph. Leila was born in Oak Lawn and graduated from Lincoln-Way East High School in 2003 where she was a member of the girls' volleyball team. After graduation, she began working at various restaurants with her sister Joanna. Leila eventually began working at Chase Bank as a bank teller before receiving numerous promotions. In 2012, Leila met the love of her life, Andy. Leila was a gifted cosmetologist and loved fashion. She was an avid fan of Friends . Leila enjoyed taking trips to the beach in Florida and she loved spending time at the Wilmington Rec. Club and credited Andy for getting her hooked-on fishing. Leila was known as a good soul who would help anyone in need. A devoted mother, her greatest joy in life was her son, Caleb. She was always full of hope, a source of inspiration and will be dearly missed by all. Visitation for Leila will take place on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan. Funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
