Leora Mildred Pollick Robinson, born January 7, 1923 died 8:43 pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Joliet, Will, Illinois. Leora was the third daughter of Addie Mae and Omer James Pollick and was raised in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Leora met Benjamin Edward Robinson during World War II while he was stationed in Kansas City, Missouri. Leora lived with her sister, Ilene, in Kansas City following high school working for a military radio contractor during the war. While Ben was on leave they returned to his home in Illinois. Leora and Ben married September 6, 1944 at the Richards Street Methodist Church in Joliet, Illinois. Rev. A.A. Bauman officiated. Leora loved needlework of all styles. She quilted, knitted, crocheted and sewed apparel and toys for her children and grandchildren. Many of her happiest years were spent in their home on Eastern Avenue in Manhattan, Illinois. During later years Leora and Ben traveled the United States. They lived for a time near their eldest daughter, Marilyn, in Pioneer, California. They most recently lived with daughter, Carol See in New Lenox, Illinois. Leora and Ben were married 69 years and were still deeply in love at her passing. Leora was preceded in death by her parents, Addie Mae and Omer James Pollick and by her siblings: Claudine Young, James Pollick, Ilene Weston, Willard Pollick, Homer Pollick and Waymon Pollick. Survivors include her husband, Ben; 4 children: Marilyn L. Girton, Carol L. See, William T. Robinson, and Nancy K. Brandon; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Private family services will be held at the Wilton Cemetery in Wilton Center, Illinois.
