Lillian K. Moroney, age 86 of Elwood, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 with her loving family at her side. Survived by her children; Sean Moroney, Michael Moroney, Elizabeth (Derrick) Barton, Kathryn Moroney and Mary Holly (Wayne) Jurgerson, her grandchildren; John (Margaret) Moroney, Sean Moroney Jr., Alex (Alexandra) Carlson, Michael Moroney, Allison Moroney, Jeff (Michelle) Barton, Emily Vranicar, Elizabeth Jurgerson, Erin Jurgerson, and several great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Francis and Florence (nee Cegielski) Mahoney, her husband John "Bill" Moroney (2009) and her daughter-in-law Cynthia Moroney. Lillian was a graduate of Bowen Hight School, she attended college at University of Chicago and St. Xavier College. Lillian worked as a market researcher and a bank courier, both positions she enjoyed. Lillian was a longtime member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Hazel Crest where she was active in the choir and was able to use her gift of her beautiful voice for weddings and funerals. In Lillian's spare time she could be found knitting, crocheting, reading, and was also known for her talent at sleeping. Lillian also loved every animal, especially her dogs throughout the years. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation for Lillian will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the same day beginning with prayers at the funeral home followed by a procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North St., Manhattan for 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial. A private interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, at a later date.
