Obituary

Lillian P. Wielgus, age 93, of Manhattan formerly of Chicago, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at The Cottages of New Lenox. She is survived by her loving children Scott (Peggy) Wielgus of Manhattan, Pam (Eugene) Kwon of Minnesota and Karen Wielgus of Countryside, three grandchildren Dustin (Elria) Wielgus, Jason (Magen) Wielgus, and Jacquelyn Hill, three great grandchildren Liliana, Everett and Bennett. Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Cecilia Wielgus, her husband Norbert Wielgus and eight siblings. Lillian grew up in Chicago. She was orphaned at age thirteen and began her working years. Lillian worked a variety of jobs until becoming a licensed practical nurse as a surgical scrub nurse. Lillian married Norbert in 1956 and started her family. She loved her home life, taking care of her family was her priority. Lillian also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Lillian was a long-time parishioner of St. Symphorosa Catholic Church until moving to Manhattan with her son in 2017. Visitation for Lillian will be Monday, January 6, 2020 from 3-7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 7, 2020, beginning with prayers at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan for 10:00 A.M.
