Obituary

Lorraine P. McGill, age 93 of Joliet, formerly of New Lenox, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, with her family at her side. Survived by her children Ed (Carlene) McGill, Jim McGill, and Kim (Rick) Austin, grandchildren Lisa (Jorge) Arroyo, Stacey (Donnie) Graff, Kristen (Steve Vingua) McGill, Mark McGill, Zak (Mili Cadena) McGill, Kate (Jason) Jeka, and Scott (Brooke) Austin, and great grandchildren Owen, Ada, Avery, Eli, Cameron, and Siena. Preceded in death by her husband Edward McGill, parents John and Julia (nee Kos) Lenkowski, and brothers Stanley and William Lenkowski.

Lorraine was a kind and passionate person with lots of love to give. She loved her family more than anything. She was always excited to see them and took great pride in making plans and cooking up plentiful, delicious meals for their visits, especially when the holidays arrived. She was foundational to many memories with her thoughtfulness, attention to detail, warm outlook, and vibrant spirit. Music, rock and roll above all else, was one of her greatest passions as she held a huge collection of albums and shared many of the same favorite bands as her children- rolling with the times and jamming out with each generation to come. As a born Chicagoan, she was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks as well, rooting them on through each season and having fun with all the games she watched. She found comfort in the beauty of nature and all forms of wildlife, watching the birds and feeding them daily. A loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, and sister who will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Her family is especially grateful for the entire care team at Sunny Hill Nursing Home and the Angels Grace Hospice staff for their grace and attentiveness in giving her comfort, peace, and respect while under their care.

Per Lorraine's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at the funeral home. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her dearest Edward. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
