Obituary

Marilyn Brandau, age 90, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, in Arizona. She is survived by her children, Karen (Wally) Krause, Michael (Kathy), James (Kathy), and Thomas (Julie), 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Marilyn is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd, parents, Frank and Victoria Wesolowski, brothers, Frank, Gene and Ron and sister, Eleanor Bettenhausen. Marilyn worked as a young lady in Cavett's Drug Store in Tinley Park where she earned the nickname "Soda Jerk". She farmed with her husband Lloyd for many years in the Tinley Park area. A devout Catholic, Marilyn was a longtime member of St. George Catholic Church in Tinley Park and became a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan in 2007 and was very involved in many church functions. A highlight of her life was when she met St. Pope John Paul II in Rome in 1987. Marilyn was also an Auxiliary Member of the American Legion Post 615 in Tinley Park as well as a member of the Will County Farm Bureau. To Marilyn, the absolute love of her life was her family. Visitation for Marilyn will take place on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, beginning with prayers at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, for 10:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place immediately after Mass at 12:30 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilyn's name to Ann and Robert Lurie Children's Hospital click here and St. Joseph Catholic School click here would be most appreciated.
