Obituary

Marlene M. Martinez, age 84, of Wilmington, formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Silver Cross Hospital with family at her side. She is survived by her children; Ron Martinez of Manhattan and Mary (Frank) Studer of Wilmington, her grandchildren; Nicole Stroud, Morgan Martinez, Jimmy and Ben Studer, and Shannon and MacKenzie Martinez, her great grandchildren; Allyson Marlene Martinez, Hayden and Lainey Stroud, and Dante and Damien Godina, her sisters, Fran Moody and Eleanor Rousonelos, her brother-in-law, Raymond Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Oliver "Babe" Martinez, her son, Kenneth A. Martinez, her grandson, Ryan James Martinez, and her faithful canine companion, "Buddy". Marlene enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and taking pontoon rides on Lake Castlerock, gambling at Ho-Chunk Casino, cooking for anyone and everyone, visiting and gossiping with the family, and fussing over her grandchildren, to name a few. Marlene was a faithful and spiritual person, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed. Funeral service for Marlene will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan. Visitation will be the same day from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
