Obituary

Mary Jane (Korst) Hoehn of Shorewood, IL passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2025 at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Joliet on June 26, 1931, she remained a lifelong Will County resident. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Ralph Patrick Hoehn in 2009, her parents Mary (Breen) Korst and Florent Korst, and 2 grandsons; Robert & William Hoehn.

She is survived by 6 loving children: Tim (Deborah) Hoehn Kimberling City, MO; Laurie Keigher (Tony Holas) Shorewood, IL; Terrance (Ruth) Hoehn Morrison, IL; Marla (Jim) Caruso Mesa, AZ; Father Dan Hoehn, Lockport, IL; Steve (Ruth) Hoehn Manhattan, IL. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law Betty Jean (Chuck) Jacobucci and brother-in-law Albert Hoehn and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful Friends.

Mary Jane was a devoted wife and mother. Being an only child, she desired to fill her home with lots of children and activity. She worked tirelessly to prepare delicious homemade meals, baked goods and her famous homemade biscuits. Because she trained her children in biscuit making, the tradition will continue! Home was the gathering place for friends and family, and she hosted many large gatherings like the Fourth of July family reunion which would often draw over 100 family members.

She and Ralph enjoyed their retirement years, wintering in Arizona and often entertaining visiting friends and family. They also enjoyed their casino trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin.

A lifelong Catholic and member of Saint Joseph's Church in Manhattan, Mary Jane was supportive and proud of her son Dan's calling to become a Catholic priest. She was a champion for all her children and selflessly supported them in all their endeavors. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and shared her love abundantly with them.

She was the owner of Hoehn's Floral in Manhattan for many years, providing the community with a local florist. Prior to that, she enjoyed the flexibility of being a part-time real estate agent while raising her family.

An avid card player, she belonged to a pinochle card club for over 60 years, as well as several other card clubs with her Manhattan friends.

The family also wishes to express gratitude to Lightways staff Jen and Lakishia, and private caregiver Melba for the help and kindness they provided. Mary Jane was loved, well cared for, and will be greatly missed.
