Matthew J. Huffnus Jr., age 67, of Manhattan, IL, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023. Matt was the beloved husband and best friend of Renee' for 32 years, father of Matthew III, Christopher and Stephen. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Kaleb Huffnus and Dakota Huffnus and one great grandson, Grayson as well as siblings Louise Zirves, Kathy Nagle, Linda (Jay) Klasek, Richard (Judy) Huffnus, Patricia (Greg) Rhode and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Matthew J. Huffnus Sr. and Marilyn P. Huffnus. Matt was involved in Boy Scouts with his sons and continued those efforts for many years in many difference capacities which earned him the Silver Beaver award. He was a proud member the American Legion Post 935 most recently holding the position of Chaplain. He enjoyed his involvement with the Lincoln Way ROTC program. He loved to fly and had a private pilot's license in his younger years and was a member of the EAA Warbirds of America and AOPA. The American Legion Post 935, (230 Wabash St., Manhattan, IL) will hold a short service to honor Matthew at the beginning of the April 20th meeting beginning at 6:30 P.M.
