Maybelle Welsh, age 97, of Manteno formerly of Wilton Center and Manhattan, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Manteno Springs Assisted Living Center, Manteno. She is survived by her children, Wayne (Debbie) Welsh of Dwight, Dolores (Gary) Shores of Manhattan, Phyllis Petreikis of Kankakee, Katharine (Tom) Manning of Bourbonnais, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Elda (nee Love) Munger, her husband, Harold Welsh (1995), her son, Raymond Welsh (2012), her son-in-law, Paul Petreikis (1988), three sisters, and one brother. Maybelle was born in Peotone and graduated from Peotone High School. She liked to garden and play cards (mostly Euchre), but her passion was crocheting, her creations can be found spread throughout her family and her friends. While most of the time Maybelle was a home maker, she was also the Wilton Twp. Tax Assessor for many years and she was a long time member of Wilton Center Federated Church, Wilton Center. Funeral service for Maybelle Welsh will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Wilton Center Federated Church with Pastor Doug Carroll officiating, she will lie-in-state from 10:00 A.M. until her time of service.
