Michael J. Dunn "Mike", age 79, of Chicago, IL, passed away at his home on Friday, March 18, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; Ruth Ann Dunn (nee Dwyer), children; Mark and Lisa (Oliver) Fischlewitz, daughter-in-law Cathy, grandchildren; Sarah (Russell), Melissa, Michael, Billy, Patrick, Angel (Linda), Richie, Mark Jr. (Nikki), Caitlin, James, Josh (Ricki), Aubrey (Jeremy), Andrea (Steve), Emily and Aaron, 21 great-grandchildren, brothers; Jim (Shari) and John (Debbie) and sister-in-law Cheryl. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mike is preceded in death by his sons Ralph and Michael, daughter Elizabeth, grandson David, his parents John and Rita, his twin brother William, sister Jackie (Michael) McMahon and brother Kevin. Mike was born in Chicago and graduated from Calumet High School. A proud patriot, he honorably served his country for the next few years in the United States Marine Corps. After returning home in 1965, Mike became a pipefitter with the Local 597 Pipefitters and continued pipefitting until his retirement. Mike also became a Chicago firefighter in 1971 and was on the department for nine years and continued pipefitting during that time as well. In his spare time, Mike took pleasure in reading, working on crossword puzzles, supporting Chicago sports teams and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with his wife. Mike was known as a hard worker and a devout Christian who enjoyed attending Church services. He loved his family more than anything else and will be dearly missed. Visitation for Mike will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan, IL. Funeral Service will take place the following morning Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 11:15 A.M. also at the funeral home.
