Nicholas John
Araujo "Nick"
June 11, 1996 – August 19, 2025
Nicholas John Araujo, 29, of Mokena, IL passed away unexpectedly on August 19th, 2025.
Nick is the cherished son of John and Peggy Araujo. Beloved brother of Kelly (Justin) Costello, Tony Scanlon, Joe (Ashley) Scanlon, and Abby (Alex) Araujo. Adored uncle to Dylan, Maggie, Nora, Emma, Becker, and Amelia. Devoted soulmate to Gabbie Liskovec. Proud "dog mom" to Poppy. Nick was preceded in death by his great grandmother Helen Garren, his grandparents Willard and Joan Werges, his grandfather Eulalio Araujo, and his aunt Denise Anton.
Nick had a rare ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued. He was funny and silly, always quick with a joke or a sarcastic remark that made everyone laugh. He was the kind of person who could light up a room just by being in it. He was gentle and sensitive with a pure heart. He carried his kindness quietly, but it echoed in every relationship he built.
"Something we always admired about him was his deep sense of loyalty. He was someone you could always count on, whether for a laugh, a helping hand, or just someone to listen. His loyalty extended not only to his family but also to his friends, his pets, and anyone who needed his support. Nick's word was his bond, and he gave of himself selflessly to the people he cared about."
He also was the best cook, someone who found joy in feeding the people he loved. Whether it was a homemade favorite or something new he wanted to try, Nick's food was always made with love and care (and tasted absolutely amazing).
Loving son, brother, partner, uncle, nephew and cousin to many, and a loyal friend to all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made out to Lincoln-Way Family Addiction Support Group in honor of Nick, in care of Tom Moore. Checks can be written out to Tom Moore or Margaret Araujo, Zelle moorzy4@aol.com, or Venmo @Tom-Moore64
