Nicholas R. Griest, "Nick", age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Nick is survived by his mother Starla Gray, his maternal grandmother Clara Gray, his paternal grandmother Catherine "Myrt" Griest, his wife of 15 years Sherry (nee Dube) Griest, his children Janessa Dube, Alexis Morris, Kendall Hovey and Myleyna Griest, his grandchildren Devlin Lunsford, Ella Pearson, Lilly Pearson, Ember Lunsford and Zaydin Lundsford, his sister Jessica Griest, his aunts Tammie (Doug) Wilson and Pam (Marc) Ellis, his uncle Tim Griest, his nephew Evan Griest, several cousins and his faithful canine companion "Boyo". Preceded in death by his father Brian Griest Sr., his brother Brian Griest Jr., his maternal grandfather Delbert Gray, his paternal grandfather Jackie Griest, his uncle Mark Johnson and his cousin Sean Wilson. Nick was a graduate of Wilmington High School. He worked for Kenco Fleet Services for many years. Nick was a talented mechanic and loved anything with a motor. He enjoyed camping, boating, jet skis, smoking meat and grilling, and basically anything outdoors. Nick had a generous spirit, if you needed it and he had it, it was yours. He was extremely social, never met a stranger and would literally help anyone in need. Nick was thoughtful, humble, kind, and genuine, he had a deep love of family, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Nick, may you find peace, light and love where you are and may you always have a full tank of gas! A memorial visitation for Nick will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 2-6:00P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 P.M.
