Phyllis Barbara Fosnaugh (nee Triem), age 91, of Manhattan passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023 at home with family at her side. She is survived by her children; Keith Fosnaugh, Jill Gothard, Eric (Kay) Fosnaugh, and Phillip (Susan) Fosnaugh, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, brother-in-law Carl (Bernice) Fosnaugh, and sister-in-law Beverly (Terry) Falk. Preceded in death by her parents Phillip and Matilda Triem, husband of 66 years Robert Fosnaugh (2018), son Brian Fosnaugh (2014), son-in-law Al Gothard (2016), brother Norman Triem, brother and sister-in-law Wayne (Nancy) Triem, and parents-in-law Carl and Mabel Fosnaugh.
Phyllis was a longtime member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. She served as the head of the Republican Party and tax collector for the Manhattan Community for several years. Phyllis and Robert enjoyed traveling and visited the 48 continental state capitols, the Caribbean and Rome, Italy. Phyllis was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were in school and then attended nursing school and become an LPN at Silver Cross Hospital where she retired after 23 years. She also enjoyed a girls night out by joining a bowling league with friends and neighbors on Tuesday nights in Wilmington. Phyllis was an early DIYer, which started with her interests in sewing and painting. She did the interior painting in the home, which wasn't perfect, but always done in love. She enjoyed sewing up a storm making curtains, bedspreads, and pillow cases. Her sewing expanded into, many clothing projects throughout the years, recently she passed time playing solitaire on her phone. Phyllis lit up a room with her welcoming smile, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation for Phyllis will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. -10:30a.m. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be the same morning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Carol Currier Frighetto officiating at the funeral home. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
