Age 89, of Joliet, IL passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox,IL. Born June 25, 1928 in Joliet, to the late Thomas and Rose C. (nee Oldani) Carnaghi. Veteranof the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He retired from Laborers Local#75, receiving his fifty-year pin. Member of the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Joliet.Richard was a proud grandpa and great grandpa. He enjoyed gardening and loved tending to hiscats. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in his backyard. Surviving are threechildren, Cherilyn (Thomas) Hicks of Manhattan, Kimberly (Richard) Blevins of Frankfort, andRichard K. Carnaghi of Joliet; five grandchildren, Michael (Dina) Blevins, Shannon (Keith)Owens, Lauren Hicks, Kathryn Hicks, and Jordan Carnaghi; ten great-grandchildren, Dominic,Dimitri, Jaxon, Jace Owens, Anthony, Josh, Noah, Vinny Blevins, Kaden Geiss, and LukeCastleberry; one sister, Dorothy (the late Thomas) Kinsella of Manhattan; and numerous niecesand nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Carol (nee Jordan) Carnaghi,whom he married in 1953; and one brother, Charles Carnaghi. Visitation for Richard will be atthe Forsythe Gould Funeral Home: 507 S. State St. (Rt. 52), Manhattan, Friday, March 30, 2018from 9-11:00 a.m. with a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at ElmhurstCemetery, Joliet.
