Richard Gerat, age 56, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Lightways Hospice Home with his loving family at his side. Survived by his mother Antoinette (nee Dileto) Gerat, his brothers David (Jean) Gerat and Ronald Gerat, and his nephew Matthew Gerat. Preceded in death by his father Kenneth Gerat, his maternal grandparents Joseph and Josephine Dileto and his paternal grandparents Andrew and Mary Gerat. Richard was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. He worked for Diageo in Plainfield for several years. In Richard's younger years, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes and fishing with his dad, he spoke often of a trip they took to Canada. Richard also enjoyed music, especially playing his guitar, he was self-taught and while it was mostly a hobby, he really had fun making noise. A grave side service will take place for Richard on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
