Richard Thomas Nowicki, age 93, passed away on September 30, 2024. Survived by his children Anthony (Marycarol) Nowicki and Jan (Frank) Mavros, grandchildren David (Katherine) Nowicki, Daniel Nowicki, Mallory (Sean) Gerent, Nicole (Joseph) Kubik, Jesse Mavros and Frank Mavros, and sister Geraldine Ready. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Dolores (nee Pawel) and his parents Sebastian Nowicki and Loretta Nowicki (nee Hybiak).
Richard graduated from Saint Ignatius High School of Chicago, IL. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he spent over 25 years at Whiting Corporation as a design engineer. Richard was a member of the Men's Woodworking Club as he was passionate towards and highly skilled in woodworking. He also loved gardening outdoors and tended to many plants in his house. He was devout in his Catholic faith and spent countless hours volunteering at the food pantry and his parish. He strongly believed in donating to church and prayed frequently. One thing to be said about Richard was that he never wasted a scrap of anything- he would always save items to be used on a later date and found purpose to them.
Visitation for Richard will take place at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:45am. Procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church will immediately follow for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleums, 7201 Archer Rd, Justice, IL 60458.
