Richard "Rich" James Potter, 49 of Manhattan, passed away unexpectedly and tragically Thursday, April 22, 2021 at his home.
Born February 5, 1972, to Robert Day and Gertraud Antonie (Merk) Potter in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Rich attended Frankfort Square Elementary and Junior High Schools and graduated from Lincoln-Way High School in 1990. He also attended Joliet Junior College where he received his Associates degree.
Survived by his father Robert (Barbara) Potter, his loving and devoted wife Cindy Potter, his children Alex (Marissa) Jones, daughter Caitlyn Weidinger, brother Mike (Janet) Potter, sister Christina (Justin) Clemons, brother Kenneth (Tammie) Clemons, grandson Cayden Jones, niece Maddie Potter and countless friends. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Gertraud Potter, with whom he is now reunited for eternity.
Rich was a technical support and training specialist for BBDP, Inc., a leading provider of technology solutions to the staffing industry in Chicago, Illinois.
Rich and Cindy were a true forever couple, Cindy affirms; "Rich was my life, my love, my forever. The day we married we had our wedding rings engraved, 'I give you my life forever true.'"
Rich was a skilled pool player and a long-time member of the American Poolplayers Association. He was also a passionate partner with his wife in cat rescuing and fostering.
Rich was a social but humble man; he truly enjoyed his family and friends. He was a loving son, husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. To know Rich was to love Rich, he loved back hard and true, his legacy will live on in those that he shared his love and life with.
Visitation for Rich will be on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan, IL from 2-7:00 P.M. A time of sharing will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 P.M.
