Obituary

Rita Cecelia Theresa Robbins (nee Martell), age 96, of Manhattan passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family and beloved caregiver Sophie. She is survived by her six children; Robert (Jean) Robbins, Thomas (Sandra) Robbins, Donald (Carol) Robbins, Allen Robbins, James (Pamela) Robbins and Mary Anne (Steve) Meyer, 15 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Adlore and Leah (nee Brais) Martell, her loving husband of over 74 years, Lester Robbins (2015), her siblings, Rosalie Grady, Aurora Toepper, Annette Trepanier and Armand Martell, and Paul Martell. Rita was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wilton Center. She farmed her entire life alongside her husband Lester in the Wilton Center Area. Rita was an excellent seamstress, gardener, and cook. She was well known in the area for her chicken and noodles and her chocolate chip cookies. One of her favorite past times was playing Euchre and Pinochle. Visitation will be Monday, October 17, from 3-7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service for Rita will be 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wilton Center, for 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Mount St. Patrick Cemetery, Wilton Center.
