Robert "Bob" Curran, age 71, of Manhattan, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet. He is survived by his children; Michael (Kelly) Curran of Joliet, Joseph Curran and James Curran both of Manhattan, and Kathryn (Steven) Short of Elwood, three grandchildren; Kayla, Michael, and Maya Short, one brother-in-law, Bud McQueen of Manhattan, one sister in law, Roberta (Brian) Brave of N.C., two nieces, Melissa (David) Phillip of Shorewood, and Rita Brave of M.D., One nephew, Alek Brave of N.C., two great-nephews, Brendan and Noah Philip of Shorewood and many Cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Curran (2013), his parents, Milton and Lorretta (nee Barten) Curran, his step father, Raymond "Papa" Seggebruch, his parents-in-law, Raymond and Rita (nee Ritchie) McQueen, one brother, James Curran, and numerous aunts and uncles. Bob was a graduate of Peotone H.S., he proudly served in the U.S. Army when he spent time in Korea, and he worked as a pipefitter at Amoco Chemical for over 35 years. Bob was a long time resident of Manhattan, he was a past volunteer firefighter for Manhattan Fire Department, a past Trustee for Manhattan and Manhattan Twp and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan. Funeral service for Robert will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be 3-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Memorials in Bob's name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St. Manhattan, would be most appreciated.
