Obituary

Robert Whitney Fosnaugh, age 87, of Manhattan passed away peacefully at Alden Estates of Shorewood on Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was also being cared for by Joliet Area Community Hospice. Bob suffered from Parkinson's for 12 years, putting up a good fight. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis (nee Triem) of almost 66 years, his five children; Keith Fosnaugh, Jill (Al-deceased) Gothard, Brian Fosnaugh (deceased), Eric (Kay) Fosnaugh and Phillip (Susan) Fosnaugh, fourteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, a brother Carl (Bernice) Fosnaugh and his sister Beverly (Terry) Falk. Preceded in death by his parents Carl and Mabel Fosnaugh, mother and father in law, Phillip and Matilida Triem, brothers-in-law Norman Triem and Wayne (Nancy) Triem. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Bob was retired from Columbia Pipe and Supply Company as branch manager in Joliet. He was noted for his expertise in heating, air conditioning and plumbing. Bob enjoyed being a Cub Master and was a past president of Anna McDonald School Board in Manhattan. Bob and Phyllis loved traveling and wintered in Scottsdale, Az. They visited 46 State Capitals, Caribbean Cruises and Rome Italy. Bob loved swimming and playing golf, riding his motorcycle and camping with his children when they were young. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nicole Yost and Linda Dolost for the constant care and comfort they provided to Bob over the past year, their dedication and friendship will always be remembered. Visitation for Robert will be Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 3-7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 9, 2018 also at the funeral home with Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
