Rocco P. “Roy” Chirico, age 98, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children John (Lisa) Chirico, Susan Chirico, and Daniel (Carrie) Chirico, his grandchildren Anthony, (Arielle) Chirico, Callista (Michael) Stocksdale, Emma (Brandon Koch) Cromwell, Devi Chirico, Evan Chirico and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Gabriel and Illuminata (nee Spata) Chirico, his wife Patricia (nee Sayles) Chirico (2121), his sister and brother-in-law Antoinette and Joseph Mednansky, her brother and sister-in-law Frank and Olga Jordan and his brother Anthony Giordano and numerous nieces and nephews. Rocco was born in Chicago Heights. His childhood parish was San Rocco Oratory in his hometown. Rocko attended Thornton Junior High and later received his GED. He then went to work at Keystone Asphalt. Rocco then served his country with U.S. Army during WWII where he achieved Quartermaster Corporal. Following his time in the service, he attended DeForest Technical School known today at DeVry achieving an associates degree and getting a 2nd Class Radio and Telephone license. Rocco met and then married his wife Patricia in 1964. They resided in Oak Forest, Frankfort and finally Elwood. When Rocco was young, he took joy in bringing his brother Tony lunch at his barbershop. Later in life he enjoyed attending his sons little league games and taking his daughter horseback riding. In Rocco’s retirement years, he enjoyed golfing and watching professional sports. Rocco was a stubborn man, a trait he proudly passed onto his children. A loving husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missing by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Rocco will take place on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 9:30am – 11:30am at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Immediately following his visitation, we will process to St. Joseph Catholilc Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, for 12:00pm Mass of Christian Burial.
