Roscoe was a graduate of Brookfield High School in Missouri. He worked at Caterpillar for over 40 years. In 1961, a few years after starting at CAT, he was drafted to the U.S. Army where he spent most of his time in Germany. Beverly was able to go with Roscoe. Roscoe went back to work with CAT after he finished his service. He became an avid camper along with the whole family. They traveled all over the United States and eventually upgraded to a motor home to take the grandchildren and great grandchildren with them. Overall, Roscoe was an outdoorsy person with a house full of boys.
