Obituary

Rosemarie D. Follmar Jurgens, fondly known as Rosie, passed from this life into glory during the morning Hour of Mercy, February 18, 2024. Third born to Ambrose and Dorothy Follmar, October 11, 1945 of La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was preceded by her sister, Sister Mary Ann Follmar, and brother, Rev.. A. Joseph Follmar. She is survived by her sons Kurt and Erik Jurgens (their spouses and children), beloved daughter Kari Ropers and her husband Mike and close family friend/son Michael Fox.

Rosie, a scientist (Professor of Physics and Chemistry) and Educator by profession could not deny the generations of the Catholic faithful that she grew up among. Referring to herself as the black sheep of the family for not entering the ministry like both of her siblings, she surrendered to her ministerial vocation in the 1980s after encountering Holy Spirit through a CRHP weekend retreat.

Following the footsteps of her parents who held weekly bible studies in their home during the 1950s, Rosie opened her home for the ministry of the Lord. During the 1980s, they had prayer gatherings and Masses. After her eldest came to faith in the 1990s, she opened her home on Saturday nights for scores of young adults to encounter Jesus.

After retirement, Rosie continued to serve the Diocese of Joliet and lead small group gatherings. She delighted in the fellowship of the weekly Ladies Group.

In life, Rosie tasted and saw that the Lord is good, His presence being better than the sweetest of desserts that she too enjoyed. She now joins our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family and friends at the Great Banquet in glory.
