Obituary

Sandra S. Murphy (nee Hall) of Bloomington formerly of Elwood passed away peacefully at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, after a lengthy courageous battle with breast cancer on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 with her family at her side. She is survived by her daughter Karla (David) Lane, her grandchildren; Kasandra Smith, Korine Tatroe, Kaitlyn Graczyk, Alan Agamy, Andrew Agamy, and Alina Agamy, her great grandchildren; Evelyn Bebe Smith, Aidyn James Agamy and Ainsley Rayne Agamy, a family friend who is considered another daughter, JeanAnn Meyerhoff, and her faithful canine companion, "Sara Sue". Preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Aline (nee Kirk) Hall, her infant son, John Earl, her daughter, Lesa Graczyk and her very best friend, Barbara Ann Foster. Sandra was born and raised in Freeman Spur, Illinois and later moved to Elwood. She was an active and longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of CCW and the Altar and Rosary Society, she also helped and cooked with the funeral luncheon ladies for years, she sent her children to St. Joseph School and was active in the school as well. She was employed at the Will County Health Department until she retired. Sandra enjoyed reading and playing cards in her spare time; she also had a standing date with her granddaughter Alina watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette weekly. Another favorite pastime was touring the country by bus with her friends. Sandra especially enjoyed watching her own children's activities as they grew up and the tradition continued with her grandchildren, she never missed a game. Family was everything to her. Visitation for Sandra Murphy will be June 25, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan. Procession will be the same day at 1:30 P.M. from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St. Manhattan for 2:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Dan Hoehn officiating. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra's name be made to the following charities that were near and dear to her heart; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, or to Paralyzed Veterans of America at www.pva.org.
