Scott N.
Wielgus
May 6, 1958 – September 30, 2022
Scott N. Wielgus, age 64, of Manhattan passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Peggy (nee Misunas) Wielgus, his children Dustin (Ria) Wielgus and Jason (Magen) Wielgus, his grandchildren Liliana, Everett, Bennett, Ford and Elodie, his siblings Pamela (Eugene) Kwon and Karen Wielgus, his niece Jackie Hill, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends, and his faithful canine companion Lucy. Preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Lillian (nee Bednarski) Wielgus. Scott graduated from St. Laurence High School. While at St. Laurence he took up bull riding in the high school rodeo. Scott proudly served our country with the U.S. Navy. He married Peggy and Scott became her hero. Scott and Peggy moved to the farm in Manhattan where they raised, bred, showed, and boarded horses. They won a world championship and multiple reserves. Scott worked as a precision machinist specializing in hydraulics. While working in this industry, he worked in the auto industry, on the Chicago Lock and on local hydraulic bridge work. During this time, he also owned and operated HT Technical Consultants for over 23 years. Scott loved history and was an avid fan of war history, a huge Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan, hunting, fishing, pumpkin growing, camping and anything outdoors. Scott was a jack of all trades, literally. He could fix anything and not just fix it, make it better! He enjoyed fixing small things as well, watches, clocks, coocoo clocks and much more. Scott will always remain Peggy's hero, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, and he will be dearly missed. Visitation for Scott will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 4-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the following day on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11:30 A.M. also at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors and committal service will immediately follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442. 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
