Shirley J. Barr (nee Smith), age 82, of Manhattan passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at her care givers home with loved ones at her side. Survived by her children Laura (Richard) Vanderhei, Michael (Katie) Barr and Chris Barr, grandchildren Tommy and Brian Vanderhei, sister Linda (Wayne) Zatkalik, nephew Paul Deak and great niece McKinley Deak. Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Minnie Smith, her husband Victor J. Barr and nephew Timothy Deak. Shirley grew up in Roseland, a graduate of Fenger High School and a long-time member of St. Catherine's Church and St. George Church in Tinley Park. Shirley was a secretary for several years at Sherwin Williams where she met her husband. Later, she worked as a housekeeper for several families. Shirley liked to garden and spend time with her family at Goose Lake, but mostly Shirley loved to see and visit with her grandchildren. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Toni, Tom, Taylor and Ameera LaBuhn for taking Shirley into her their home and providing the utmost love, care and compassion the last year of her life.
