Shirley Mae Kuebel, age 90, of Gardner formerly of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet. Survived by her devoted children Scott Kuebel, Kay (Eric) Fosnaugh, Margaret (George) Churchill, Jill (Brian Seeman) Rosas, her grandchildren Jackie (Matt) Lorenz, Amelia Fosnaugh, Kurt Fosnaugh, Brooke (Matt) Zolecki) Fosnaugh, Kyle (Christi Jackson) Fosnaugh, great grandchildren Keagan, Jett and Krue Lorenz and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents Fred and Sophie (nee Heisner) Barten and her siblings Florence, Ruth, Lester, Lillian, Velma, Harold, Loretta, Vernon "Skip", Marie, Virgil "Bud" and Orville "Pete".

Shirley was a stay-at-home mom for several years and she thoroughly enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her children. She had an unstoppable work ethic, she waitressed for the Village Kitchen and in her later years cleaned houses well into her 70's. Shirley enjoyed many past times, playing bingo, watching the game show network, going antiquing and to flea markets, going to the river boats, playing Euchre, Uno and Yahtzee and cooking for her family to name a few. Shirley had a memorable competitive nature which her children and grandchildren have all experienced and remember fondly. Most of all, Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, spending time with them was what brought her most joy.

Visitation for Shirley will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 4-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. also at the funeral home with Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Interment Manhattan Center Cemetery, Manhattan.
