Obituary

Thomas E. Vinson, age 87, of Green Garden Twp., passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023. Survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Renee (nee Hojdik) Vinson, his children Peggy Pfarr, Loretta (Greg) Levi and Debra (Jamie) Green, his grandson Shawn Vinson, his great grandchildren Mickey and Emily, numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren, special friends Cheryl (Ed) Eglitis and his faithful canine companion, "Blake".

Preceded in death by his parents Avery and Hattie (nee Latham) Vinson, his siblings Jane McKellar, Mary Qualls and Otis Vinson and his mother-in-law Irene Hojdik.

Tom was born in Hollywood, Alabama. As a young man he worked with his family on a farm. When Tom was 18, he moved to Chicago for a job opportunity. Tom later took a position as a Spotter in the trucking industry and was a member of the Teamsters for several years. Tom was a devoted member of the Jackson Creek Fellowship Church in Green Garden Twp and could be found daily reading his Bible. Tom played the guitar (acoustic and electric) in a country music band and often for family and friends, he was exceptional at Elvis songs. Tom had many past times, he enjoyed country line dancing which is how he met Renee, he was excellent at a game of billiards and was known as a "Pool Shark", he enjoyed attending car shows, fairs and festivals and traveling. Tom had a heart of gold, he will be remembered for his loving, caring and supportive nature and his genuine smile and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Tom will take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service for Tom will take place the following day, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Jackson Creek Fellowship Church, 25800 S. Center Road, Monee, IL 60449. An additional time visitation will take place from 9:30 A.M. until the time of his funeral service, also at the church. Interment, Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL at 3:00 P.M.
