Obituary

Walter J. Waszak, age 72, of Kankakee, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Riverside Medical Center with loving family at his side. Survived by his children; James (Crystal) Waszak, Patricia Waszak, Christy (James) Reid, Emily Waszak, Amanda (Scott) Peterson, Bradley (Krissy) Waszak, Bridgett (Jake) Hudson and Brandon Waszak, his grandchildren; Gabriel (Caleb), Walter III, Sophia, Alex, James, Samantha, Vincent, Anthony, Hunter, Ryder, Arya, Nolan, Steven, Byron, Daisia, Destiny, Kensington, Kennedy, Carly, Scott, Jesse, Sergio, Brittanya, Esmeralda and Lilly, his brother, Peter (Madonna) Waszak, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Anna Waszak, his son, Walter Waszak Jr., his daughter, Gina Waszak, and his brothers, Vincent Waszak and Donald Wazak. Walter was a proud veteran who served his country with the United States Navy during Vietnam. He worked for and retired from the Cook County Forest Preserve. Walter enjoyed vegetable gardening and hunting for arrowheads, but he especially enjoyed taking care of and raising his farm animals. He was a self-proclaimed "great dancer" and enjoyed showing off his talents often. On Saturday afternoons Walter could be at St. Rose Church for Mass. Walter was a loving father, papa and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Walter will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, (Pearl Harbor Day) from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be the same day at 1:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Interment with committal service and full military honors will take place at 2:30 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery National Cemetery, Elwood, immediately following the funeral service.
