Wanda Anne Flanagan, age 60, of Manhattan passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet with her loving family at her side. Survived by her siblings Mary Robin (David) Nelson Sr., John D. Flanagan Jr., her nieces and nephews Jennifer (Andrew) Glenn, Brandy (Late Robert Tanner) McGuire, Christopher Tanner, Ricky (Heather) Tanner Jr., Stephanie Tanner, Emerald Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, Christian (Alexandra) Nelson, and Jessica (Jarrod Jeffers) Flanagan, her Godparents, Aunt Madeline and the Late Uncle Pete Bird and special Aunt Maureen Bennett,
numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her son John Stephen Flanagan (1999), her parents John Sr. and Mildred (nee Riley) Flanagan, her sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Ricky Tanner, nephews Thomas John Tanner in infancy, Robert Franklin Tanner and her nephew and Godson David Lamar Nelson Jr., her maternal grandparents Mary and Tom Riley and her paternal grandparents Myrtle and William Lee Flanagan. Wanda attended Anna McDonald Elementary School and Lincoln-Way Central. She graduated from Joliet Junior College with an associate degree in hotel & restaurant management. She was a hardworking, dedicated employee who worked in Bakery and Deli at Cub Foods for several years prior to spending 17 years at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet as a prep cook in the kitchen where she worked until her time of passing. Wanda was a fun-loving aunt who was always hosting holidays and family events, and she enjoyed being involved in her son's scouting and sports events. She liked to watch all racing events especially Nascar as well as the Chicago Cubs and Bears. She was also known to be an avid fan of the beloved Winnie the Pooh. Visitation will be on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 3 –8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the following morning beginning with prayers at 10:00 A.M. followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St, Manhattan for 10:30 A.M.
