Obituary

Wayne Donald Landrey, age 93 of Elwood, formerly of New Lenox and Joliet, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026 with his loving family at his side. Beloved husband of Beverly J. Landrey (nee Siefert); loving father of Wayne (Tammy) Landrey Jr., JoAnn (the late James) Vietoris, Mark (Sam Welch) Landrey, Michelle (Perry) Plarski, and Lynnette (Andy) Hrvatin; proud grandfather of 11, including the late Kaitlyn Clifton; great-grandfather of 7; survived by his brother Roland (Judy) Landrey, his brother Armel’s wife Betty, and his brother Richard's wife Verna; uncle and friend to many. Preceded in death by his parents Merle and Leona Landrey and his siblings and in-laws Leonard (Philis) Landrey, Marcella (Arthur) Neilsen, Merle (Ruth) Landrey Jr., Armel Landrey, Richard Landrey, and Charles Landrey.

Wayne served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. Following his period of service, he met, married, and built a beautiful family with the love of his life, Beverly, whom he had been devoted to for 70 wonderful years. For a few years, he went on to work with his brothers in their company, Landrey Brothers Carpentry, prior to joining the Local 174 Carpenters Union, which he had been a member of for 50 years.

Wayne was a very athletic and outgoing person. In his younger years, he played softball and loved going roller skating with his dearest Beverly. He forever championed his favorite sports teams, the Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs. He was a lifelong resident of New Lenox and Elwood and an overall simple and easygoing man. He loved his family deeply and will be dearly missed as a husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.
