Obituary

Wayne B. Wright, age 68, of Manhattan, departed this world on May 21, 2016 to join others who went before him. He fought a long hard battle of diffuse B Cell Lymphoma after diagnosed in 2014. Wayne was born in Courtland, New York on June 29, 1947 to Bernard and Arlene (nee Woodrich) Wright. He moved to Kankakee, IL When he was a mere three months old. Wayne attended Kankakee High School graduating in 1965 when he became employed by Illinois Central Railroad where he retired from now known as Canadian National Railroad or (CN/IC) in 2003 after over 37 years of service. Wayne married Marie Bettenhausen in 1970 where they lived in Park Forest and Matteson, IL. When that marriage ended in 1982 he married Linda Guindon (nee Stubblefield) and resided in South Chicago Heights, IL and currently lived in Manhattan, IL. before his passing (also known as "Home away from Home" was Illinois Medical District guest housing in Chicago, IL for his many doctor and treatment appointments). Wayne was active in Rockdale, IL Lions Club serving as President and other positions, he loved to be Santa during Breakfast with Santa, he was Vice President for the Local Narve Chapter of retired railroad employees and spouses, he was a trustee for Village Bible Church and performed all the lawn maintenance there, he was active with the Immanuel Baptist Church as Trustee and a member of the choir, all these activities for many years and all with the help and support of his loving wife Linda. Wayne enjoyed antiquing, auctions, country-western dancing, playing cards with friends and all music. Mourning Wayne's passing is his wife Linda, his father Bernard (Arlene-deceased) Wright, his mother-in-law, Evelyn (Herman-deceased) Stubblefield, his sisters, Lynda (Ron-deceaded) Weenhoff, Cheryl (Ben-deceased) Dole and Karen Linnabary, his brother-in-law, Michael (Mary) Stubblefield, his brother-in-law Steve Stubblefield-deceased, his step-children, Jeff and Walter Guindon, three step-grandchildren, his aunt, nieces and nephews, and close neighbors and friends who were very supportive during his long struggle, and his cuddle companions, his cats; Spookie "Baby Girl" Gabby, and Porcha "Little Girl". Visitation for Wayne will be Friday, May 27, 2016 from 3-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service for Wayne will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 28, 2016 with Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating also at the Funeral Home. Interment Manhattan Center Cemetery, Manhattan.
