Wilbur "Skip" Hansen, age 82, of Wilton Center, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Litta (nee Eden); his children: Jodie (Rodney) Antonides of Joliet, Wendy (Ed) Hansen-Smith of Columbus, OH, Becky (Dean) Pearson of Shrewsbury, PA, Kristi (Kelly) Schroeder of Ft. Collins, CO, Amy (Gary) Hansen-Malek of Kansas City, MO and Jeremy Hansen of Manhattan, IL; twelve grandchildren: Trevor, Melissa, Ama, Olive, Abby, Dalton, Joelle, Revathi, Adahlee, Tikvah, Justus and Andrew; four brothers: Robert, Jim, Tom and Allen, and one sister Elaine Robinette; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Lars and Grace (nee Gerland) Hansen, and his parents-in-law Robert and Audrey Eden. Skip was born and raised in Northern Wisconsin. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout and his master's degree from Northern Illinois University. Skip married Litta in 1963 and taught as an industrial arts teacher for 36 years in Rockford, IL and at all the Joliet Township High Schools. He loved to fish, garden, and spend time with his grandchildren. Skip also enjoyed being an active member of the Will County Farm Bureau Prime Timers, where he served on the event committee. Skip attended the Open Bible Center in Kankakee. He was a member of Gideons International. Visitation for Wilbur "Skip" Hansen will be Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 9-11:00 A.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Wendy Hansen-Smith officiating. Per Skip's wishes, he will be cremated following his service. Interment at a later date.
