William J. "Bill" Ardaugh, age 90, a lifetime resident of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. He is survived by his children; Barbara (Thomas) Bolek of Shorewood, Daniel (Cheryl) Ardaugh of Plainfield, Susan (John) Walsh of Elwood, John R. "Jack" Ardaugh of Manhattan, and Carol (David) Mark of Lake Bluff, his grandchildren; Anna (Max) Glen, Christopher (Jennifer) Bolek, Eileen (Brent) Mattox, Katherine Ardaugh, Brian (Jill) Ardaugh, Patrick (Becky) Walsh, Daniel (Lauren) Walsh, Kathryn (Steve) Hunt, Kevin Ardaugh, John Ardaugh, Ryan Mark, Emily Mark, twelve great grandchildren, his sister-in-law Nileta Roberts and numerous cousins. Preceded in death by his parents Mildred and John Ardaugh, his wife Beverly Ardaugh, his brother Robert Ardaugh and his step-father Jack Doyle. Bill was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School (1941) and Joliet Catholic High School (1945). Bill worked for Standard Oil until 1965 and Uniroyal until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement, Bill began a successful career in Real Estate sales and enjoyed this for many years. He was a faithful, active member of St. Joseph Church, a loving father and proud grandfather. Bill was loved by many and enjoyed many activities including playing golf, a good card game, vacations at the Lake of the Ozarks, all things Irish (including Notre Dame), and swimming at the YMCA. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who were lucky enough to know him. The family would like to thank all those who prayed to St. Joseph asking for a peaceful death. Their prayers were answered. We extend a special thank you to Dr. Naila Ahmed and Dr. Deepak Bakane for the extraordinary care they provided Bill over the years. Their kindness and compassion will always be remembered. The family also thanks the nursing staff of Silver Cross Hospital and the Joliet Area Community Hospice for excellent and compassionate care. Visitation for Bill will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. from the funeral home in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 West North Street, Manhattan for 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan.
