Obituary

William J. O'Hanley, age 75, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 with family at his side. He is survived by his wife, Gail (nee Luchansky), children, Michelle (Keith) Cardec and Todd (Elsie Schafer), grandchildren, Riley, Tyler and Autumn Cardec, brother, James (Rose) and sister, Judy Copia. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (nee Sweeney). Bill grew up in Blue Island, IL and attended Thornton Township High School. After high school, Bill was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. Upon returning home, he worked at General Tube in Blue Island for over 40 years before retiring. Bill enjoyed taking trips to Wisconsin, Michigan and Canada where he would fish for smelt, northern pike and bass. When he was younger, Bill liked to bowl and enjoyed watching football and baseball games. He was an avid Nascar fan who also enjoyed watching the Indy 500 and going to Raceway Park in Calumet Park. Visitation for Bill will take place on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan. Funeral service will take place the following morning on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. also at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood will follow. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
