Obituary

Yvonne "Vonnie" J. Osmus, age 88, of Manhattan passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, with family at her side. She is survived by her children Karen (James) Gentile and Kevin Osmus, grandsons Ryan Gentile and Chuckie Gentile, sisters-in-law Betty Herbst and Judy Bunte, goddaughter Stephanie Lund and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents John and Myrtle (nee Williams) Hill, husband Eugene Osmus (2015), brother Dale Hill, niece Karen Sopher, nephew Jerry Hill, great niece Sherry Teague and her brothers-in-law George "Pinky" Herbst and Lawrence Bunte. Yvonne was a long time member of St. Paul U.C.C in Manhattan. Vonnie met Eugene while working at the American Institute of Laundry. Along with cleaning many residences, Vonnie cleaned the St. Joseph Catholic Church Rectory and the Busy Dusters with Joann Norgaard for several years. Vonnie enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, listening and following along with radio bible study, making her famous stew, pot roast and Vonnie's famous jello, listening to Perry Como and spending time with her family. Visitation for Vonnie will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 4-7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Fr. John Lindsey will be offering a wake service. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul United Church of Christ with Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Vonnie will lie-state from 9:30 A.M. until her time of service. For those that are able to attend, an interment with committal service will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood where Vonnie will be laid to rest next to her husband Eugene.
